Weather monitor for multiple locations
Description:
Monitor the weather of your city. Know exactly what is gong on so that you can prepare when you step outside.
Full Review:
When you start the software for the first time, it shows location selection box. It loads the cities from internet, for some reason there was a network connection error. I added the location from Location > Add menu and it worked fine.
The weather information is fetched from Norwegian Meteorological Institute and the NRK. There are lots of locations to choose from. I think even the tiny cities are also available.
It shows many weather parameters on the screen. Temperature, Wind, Pressure, Humidity etc [Fig 1]. You can also see the forecast for next 3 days on the screen. In the background there is animated picture which keep on changing according to the time. For some reason the local time was showing half an hour early.
You can also choose see the astronomy details like sunrise, sunset and moon phase.
It goes to system tray when you close it. The current temperature is shown as system tray icon. Placing your mouse over the icon shows more information in auto hide box. This is useful as you do not have to click to get the information and by just looking at the icon you know the temperature.
You can add more than one location to monitor. This is very good if you have to travel a lot. You can also choose the between US and metric unit system to show information.
You can make YoWindow as your default screensaver.
The free version has following limitation:
- Weather forecast for next three days only
- Only 2 cities can be added to monitor
- Have to manually update the weather
Conclusion: If you have to use or want to know weather information regularly then this software is very useful. There are lots of functionalities for a free version.
